Liverpool City Region Housing Associations (LCRHA) are celebrating another important step forward in improving the quality and energy efficiency of homes across the region, as Cobalt Housing, one of LCRHA’s member organisations, secures an additional £500,000 through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).

This latest investment, secured with support from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, brings the total SHDF funding for this phase of work to £2.6 million. Cobalt will also match this new funding, taking the total additional investment to £1 million, with all work planned for delivery before April 2026.

This is the second consecutive year in which Cobalt has secured additional SHDF funding.

So far, Cobalt Housing’s retrofit programme has already supported improvements to 451 homes, and this funding will allow a further 60 properties to receive energyefficiency upgrades, helping residents stay warm, reduce energy bills and cut carbon emissions.

This funding award highlights the continued progress being made across the Liverpool City Region by housing associations working together, sharing expertise, and delivering investment where it makes the greatest impact for residents.

Ian Hancock, Executive Director of Property at Cobalt Housing, said:

“We’re delighted to secure this additional funding to improve even more homes across our communities. It recognises the hard work of our teams and partners, and it means we can go further and faster in improving the energy efficiency of our homes.

“By upgrading a further 60 properties, we’re helping our customers stay warmer and reduce energy costs.”

The upgrade works will once again be delivered by Ecogee.

Gill Kelly, Managing Director at Ecogee, said:

“Working with Cobalt Housing on this next phase of improvements as part of our longstanding partnership is something we’re incredibly proud of. We see the difference that warmer, more energyefficient homes make to people’s lives.

“Cobalt truly shares our commitment to putting communities first, and together we’re delivering upgrades that provide real, lasting benefits for residents while supporting a more sustainable future. These improvements create healthier, more comfortable homes and strengthen the longterm wellbeing of the communities we serve.”
