Prima Group has turned a previously derelict brownfield site in Knowsley into an award-winning new neighbourhood. Delivered in partnership with Knowsley Council, the £3.7 million scheme provides 20 affordable rented apartments, designed to meet a range of housing needs.
The development combines general needs housing with supported living accommodation, creating an inclusive community that supports residents at different stages of life. Fern Lodge provides 11 general needs homes, including wheelchair-accessible apartments, while Bracken Court offers nine supported living apartments for adults with mental health needs alongside an on-site support hub.
A key feature of the scheme was its resident-led approach. Local people and stakeholders helped shape the development, ensuring it reflected the needs and priorities of the community. During construction, plans were adapted to include supported living accommodation, demonstrating the flexibility and partnership working needed to respond to changing local needs.
The development also prioritises sustainability through energy-efficient construction, smart heating controls, EV charging points and extensive landscaping, helping reduce both environmental impact and household running costs.
Beyond the homes themselves, Dinas Lane has delivered wider economic and social benefits by supporting local businesses, creating apprenticeship opportunities and introducing a local lettings policy that prioritises residents with specific housing needs.
